Water Filters

Back when I was a young lad we would be hiking through the forest and come upon a fresh mountain stream. We would find a little pool along side the stream where we would bend down and using our hands drink the fresh mountain water. Wow, that water was cold but it was good. But today all these lakes and streams have contaminants, most common is a parasite called giardia lamblia. It infects the small intestine and can cause diarrhea, excessive gas, bloating and nausea to name just a few. So, how do you escape this parasite. Easy, don't drink from lakes and streams. Of course this is out of the question. The next best thing is to boil the water. But that isn't always doable. So then we come to water microfilters. This will add more weight to your backpack, however, most microfilters weigh only a pound and the life of the cartridge in the filter will last for well over 200 gallons. To learn more read Water Filters and Giardia. If there is a water microfilter that you are interested in, find out what others think in Water Filters Reviews.
